It is time to write my first review (driving experience) of the BMW 3 series (325i), which I bought in August of 2007. I was tempted to write a review then, but thought of waiting for 3 months before making my move. Three months was good enough time to get a grip on the overall driving experience.
Cars are wonderful to drive, but are depreciating asset. It gets worthless as years roll by – unless you have 1930 Bentley or 1960 Jaguar etc. I have owned quite cars in past – nothing fancy though: Toyota Corolla, which had around million miles! Then it was a Nissan Sentra; Toyota Avalon XLS; Volvo S60 Turbo, and then finally this – the BMW 325i.
So, how’s has been my driving experience with this car…so far? well, I have to say this is the best car I have ever driven. Of course, it not as spacious as the Avalon, but the drive is awesome. It is flawless, elegant, and beautiful!
BMW (Head of Design Chris Bangle) has seriously overhauled the designs of the Bimmers. The car has more “muscle”; it feels, and looks like a smaller version of the BMW 7-series.
Okay – so why do I like this car? Simple reason – it is fun to drive! The simple, unsophisticated controls are wrapped in elegant and flowing shapes and premium materials. The design is curvilinear and that the same time the body looks “masculine” – it is a perfect blend. The ergonomics and aesthetic is authentic. It doesn’t borrow design from any other car manufactures, but I have noticed that some other do borrow it from this new BMW.
The New 3 has a “Start/Stop” button to get everything going. It has a 2.5-liter (215 horsepower) engine. The interior is definitely Teutonic, with good leather seats that offer side support and tasteful wood trim. The instruments are clear and easy to read. Features include, but not limited to – auto-windshield viper i.e. the wiper adjusts its speed to the force of the rain on the windshield; AUX connection (IPODs/MP3s); winter-package etc. etc. Run-flat tires are now standard equipment on every 325i.
BMW’s fifth-generation 3-Series (referred as E90) will continue to be the benchmark in the small sports sedan category.
With a base price of $31,900 and a 4 year/50,000 mile warranty, the 2006 BMW 325i is right in the thick of the competition, wheel-to-wheel with offerings.
This is a truly “Ultimate Driving Machine”!
